1835 - O.106 R.1 PCGS MS 64
Ex James Pryor, “Buddy” Byers and Steve Nomura. A magnificent coin. The 1835 is the most difficult of the late dates (1830-1836) to find in mint state. Vibrant, creamy luster envelopes this example. The toning is enchanting -- pale golden grey and violet, surrounded by iridescent blue. Pryor purchased the coin from Ed Hipps in February 1985. It was kept in a paper envelope until offered (as a raw “64”) in B&M’s Jan. 1996 sale of the Pryor Collection, lot 86. The coin thereafter passed into the collection of George “Buddy” Byers. Stack’s offered it as “very choice brilliant uncirculated” in its Oct. 2006 71st Anniversary Sale, lot 1088. Nomura acquired the coin from your cataloger at the Jan. 2008 FUN Show. The Pryor and Byers auction tags accompany the lot. Est. $4,000 to $5,000.
