1818 - O.110 R.4 NGC AU 50

Intense, almost garish, steel-blue iridescence encases most of the stars and legend, tapering to gold at the right-side peripheries. Soft luster underlies the vibrant toning. This and the upcoming O.115a are keys to completing a die variety set of 1818s. Each is a very sticky R.4. The O.110 shares a reverse die with the common O.106, leading to frequent misattributions. Estimate: $850 to $1,150
