This is a special coin. Mint luster glows under a primeval veneer of “grey dirt.” The strike is exceptional, clearly an early product of the dies. With a loupe I found a couple of hairlines around the eagle’s head. There no marks to suggest that the coin saw circulation. Caviar? Peacock’s tongue? A CAC approved R.5 this nice cannot be ignored. Est. $2500 to $3,000.
